FREDERICK BERKOWITZ MD

Berkowitz Frederick MD born 8102021 in Newark New Jersey and was a resident of Anaheim Newport Beach and San Clemente CA passed away 8302011 while visiting his home at the Jersey Shore

Frederick was a prominent Cosmetic Surgeon and was the first physician in the United States to perform Lipo Suction surgery in which he brought over from France Frederick was a kind hearted man who loved his family and friends He is survived by his four children Gregory Berkowitz Gayle Berkowitz Shari Codol and Gary Berkowitz along with his daughter in law Michelle Frederick is also survived by his six grandchildren Nathan SartiBerkowitz Alexis SartiBerkowitzMcDaniel and her husband Marshall McDaniel Madison Sarti Rachel Berkowitz Gary Paul Berkowitz Lilia Berkowitz along with his two great grandchildren Micah Sarti and Gabriel Landsman Sarti Frederick was an avid fisherman and worked the fishing docks as a young boy into his young adult years Frederick also served in WWII and was honored with several awards

JOHN ANDREW MCCURDY JR MD

John Andrew McCurdy Jr MD 66 of Honolulu died on Friday September 30th He was born in Kingsville TX on July 17 1945 He graduated with a BA in chemistry from Duke University in Durham NC in 1967 and then earned an MD from The Bowman Gray School of Medicine now the Wake Forest University School of Medicine in 1971 He completed a general surgery internship at Letterman Army Hospital in San Francisco CA and then completed a residency in Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery at Madigan Army Hospital in Fort Lewis WA After serving as a staff surgeon at Tripler Army Hospital he was honorably discharged as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1979 Dr McCurdy began a private practice in Maui which soon expanded to Honolulu He quickly became an internationally renowned authority in cosmetic surgery keynoting many medical conferences and authoring numerous facial cosmetic surgery books and publications He was a luminary in the field of facial plastic surgery for the Asian patient and authored the acclaimed medical textbook Cosmetic Surgery of the Asian Face Dr McCurdy was certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic Surgery the American Board of Cosmetic Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgery John was a brilliant generous witty loving man with a boisterous sense of humor He is preceded in death by his father Lt Col John A McCurdy Sr and nephew Ens Robert R McCurdy Survivors include his mother Elizabeth S McCurdy of Austin TX wife Adele Casaschi PhD of Honolulu brother Robert L McCurdy of Austin TX sister Karen Montee of Pensacola FL His children are John A McCurdy III of Cornelius NC Elizabeth McCurdy Hueman MD of Fayetteville NC and John Inoru McCurdy of Japan Dr McCurdy also had 2 nieces 1 nephew and 3 grandchildren

We are deeply saddened by the news of the sudden passing of Dr Peter J Cheski from a massive heart attack in the early morning hours of September 3 2010 He will be dearly missed by his staff friends family patients colleagues and all the members faculty officers and board of directors of this breast society

Dr Cheski was an extraordinarily talented cosmetic surgeon He pioneered many innovations most notably the minimally invasive transumbilical breast augmentation technique

He was Presidentelect of the Breast Society and was scheduled to become the next President of ASCBS next year He was the most productive and experienced cosmetic breast surgeon in the Los Angeles He had shared his knowledge and experience in teaching other surgeons in his practice and in his excellent presentations at the educational meetings and workshops of the Breast Society more than any other surgeons from this area and will be greatly missed by all of us who have learned from him been trained by him and who have and always will remember and appreciate his kind generosity and willingness to share

Dr Cheskis staff and colleagues have made provisions to take care of his active patients needs as well as the continuation of his cosmetic surgical practice
